Livenarch 2003 / Liveable Environments and Architecture 2nd International Congress

1- 4 July 2003 / KTU - TRABZON - TURKEY

This is the second Liveable Environments & Architecture International Congress, and the event will this year comprise two separate parts. The Congress will be held in the fascinating ancient Black Sea city of Trabzon from 1- 4 July 2003 .

The second part of the event is a summer school to be held in the same city, from 5- 15 July 2003 .

Conference papers will be organised into the following themes:

I. Multidisciplinary approaches:

mutations

philosophical diversions
scientific revolutions
technological innovations
the role of the media

II. Nature:

rural enviroment
recreational lands
nature tourism
landscaping
natural energy sources
pollution and human health

III. Man:

needs
spatial behavior
cultural change

populations in peril

IV. Cities:

city and district identity
land use, zones and zone conflicts
design of public urban spaces
new urban neighborhoods
revival and re-vitalization of urban centres
restoration and re-vitalization of old neighborhoods
revitalization of waterfronts
infill projects
urban tourism
public arts
community participation
appropriate architecture

V. Waste Land:

forsaken villages and towns
shut down production plants
evacuated districts and neighborhoods
terminal buildings out of use
